How to Implement the Senior Mental Health Lead Role in Your School: Practical Tips for Leaders
Following the ‘Day in Life’ observations carried out during the summer term, we have now completed a series of articles outlining some of the findings. These can be found on the WSA website. The latest one is aimed at school SLTs and sets out some tips for implementing the Senior Mental Health Lead role in schools. You can access the article here.
Secondary & Primary Schools – Working with external services
Discussions during our recent Schools’ Mental Health Team celebration event highlighted some challenges being faced by the teams when delivering sessions. These included:
- Being given inappropriate spaces for carrying our therapeutic sessions
- Sessions being missed due to pupils not being available
- Difficulties with connection to the school WiFi
We have attached our best practice guidelines for working with external services – these were developed by services and schools together. If you could support with the implementation of these in your school, it would be much appreciated. Please do get in touch with LLP, if there are any issues that you are experiencing from your side that we can support with.
WSA Steering Committee
Our next WSA steering committee takes place on the 29th of March (15:30-17:00). These discussions give schools the opportunity to input into the city-wide WSA vision and development of our Mental Health Schools Teams. Your input is vital to ensure that we remain responsive to your needs.
