Liverpool Counts is our city-wide campaign that builds confidence with numbers and promotes a positive attitude towards maths. It supports schools, families, and local organisations to raise confidence with numbers, challenge negative attitudes, and highlight the importance of maths in everyday life.
At its heart, Liverpool Counts is about building a culture where maths feels relevant, creative, and fun.
Our priorities
We aim to:
-
Raise standards in maths and numeracy
-
Challenge negative attitudes and change the way people think about maths
-
Show how useful numeracy is through activities, events, and resources linked to real-life situations
-
Make maths relevant through problem-solving set in local contexts
-
Strengthen links between different phases of education with shared language and smooth transitions
-
Use technology in creative ways to engage learners
-
Involve parents, local businesses, and cultural partners in celebrating maths
-
Create a lasting legacy of positivity and confidence with numbers
