At Liverpool Learning Partnership, we’re dedicated to ensuring every child receives the support they need, especially during crucial transitions in their education.
We have been commissioned by Virtual School Liverpool to provide sacks of tailored resources to assist Looked After Nursery pupils transitioning to primary school, as well as Year 6 students preparing for the move to secondary education. Our story sack style resources are designed to ease this transition, providing engaging materials that foster confidence, familiarity, and a sense of belonging in their new academic environments.

Pupils in Nursery who will be starting in Reception are given a story sack featuring:
- a story about starting school
- a drawing pad
- a pencil case filled with drawing materials
- coloured crayons
- playdough
This transition pack is crucial as it not only introduces children to the concept of starting school but also provides them with creative tools to express themselves, fostering a positive association with learning and encouraging their confidence as they embark on this new journey.
Pupils in Y6 who will be starting at their new secondary schools in September are given a sack of resources including:
- a non-fiction book about confidence and changes or a novel about children moving to secondary school
- a notepad or journal
- a workbook about starting at a new school
- drawing and writing equipment
- colouring pencils
- fidget toy
- bookmark featuring a positive message
This resource pack serves as a valuable tool in helping them navigate the transition to secondary school, providing both practical materials and emotional support to ease any anxieties and empower them for the exciting journey ahead.
