The Liverpool Children’s Festival of Reading has been part of LLP’s Reading for Pleasure programme since 2019. This year’s event takes place from 23th February to 6th March and features one week of online events for classes followed by a week of support for teachers, school staff, carers and parents.

Existing members of Liverpool Learning Partnership can participate in as many author sessions as they like at no additional cost (for non-member schools there is a charge of £50 +VAT per session).

During the Liverpool Children’s Festival of Reading, LLP hosts a series of exciting digital events with authors carefully designed to:
• Encourage reading and writing for pleasure – fostering a lifelong love of stories and self-expression
• Promote creative careers – inspiring pupils by highlighting the possibilities available to them in the writing, illustrating, and performing industries
• Start discussions – engage with important issues to spark curiosity and understanding.

The 2026 festival is no exception! We have two strands of activity: one inviting students to “GO ALL IN” (the tagline for the National Year of Reading) on what they enjoy be it football, art, manga, funny or scary books! We also have a strand focusing on empathy, understanding the lives of others and experiences of seeking refuge and sanctuary.

We have worked closely with our chosen authors to make sure that the sessions are interactive, diverse, creative, and fun – scroll down this page to meet the line-up.

Sessions are broadcast live and will be available afterwards on a private page on the LLP website for a limited period of time.
