PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING:
This is a Liverpool Children’s Festival of Reading session with Kathryn White for KS1 classes.
This is a FREE session for Liverpool Learning Partnership member schools*.
About Kathryn: Kathryn White lives in Somerset with her husband. Her first picture book was selected as a Notable Book for Social Studies by the USA Libraries Association. She has since written over thirty books for children of all ages, and has been shortlisted for numerous awards, both in the UK and USA. She has held events at the Edinburgh and Cheltenham book festivals and presented on writing for children in the US. She has held school events across Europe, China and the US and has been a campaigner for Save Our Libraries.
About Home For Grace: Grace and Luna her cat live in a shop doorway. They have only a few possessions but each one tells a story about their past and is very precious.
Stopping to talk on their way to and from school, Jess and her mother make friends with Grace and Luna. They swap gifts and stories and Jess learns of the home that Grace had to leave and the long struggle to find a safe country in which to build a new home.
When the snow comes and the days get cold Jess worries about what will happen to Grace and Luna. Luckily Grace finds a safer shelter for them where she can begin to build a new life. Jess’s brief friendship with Grace can open all children’s eyes to the importance of reaching out to those in need.
About the session: This session will be live-streamed through the Liverpool Learning Partnership website. The event will also be available to watch for 3 working days after the event on the Liverpool Learning Partnership website. Please purchase a ticket even if you intend to watch afterwards as this will ensure you get the links to do so.
Booking the session: Please book one ticket per school. We’ll send a link that you can then share with the colleagues so they can connect to the session. For our records you will be asked how many children will be accessing the session. We understand that numbers may change before the day so please estimate or calculate using the information you have at the moment.
Access needs: If you have any accessibility needs (e.g a subtitled feed), please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate these: admin@liverpoollearningpartnership.com.
