Get Ready: Maths Party Day is next week!

Friday 27th September is the Liverpool Maths Party Day! Schools can choose to celebrate the importance of maths in the way that best suits them: from an assembly focusing about maths, a maths-themed lunch menu in the cafeteria to cross-curricular maths content in all lessons. It’s completely up to you! We would love to know how you’ll be celebrating so if you share on social media please use the hashtag #LiverpoolMathsParty.

And don’t forget to check out our Maths Party resources and events

We’re really excited to launch our ‘Where’s the Maths in Liverpool’ padlet where we invite schools to add photos of where they find maths around their school premises, local community or during school trips. We invite classes to pose their own maths questions and puzzlers for other schools to answer. We’d love this to become an ongoing collaborative resource bank of local examples of maths in Liverpool and the wider City Region.

Call for Participants: Boss Books

Boss Books is a video series aimed at encouraging children to have their say about the books they enjoy. As part of our ongoing commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion with children’s and YA literature, and also to mark both Black History Month and World Mental Health Day (10th October), the Autumn edition of Boss Books will focus on books as ‘mirrors, windows and glass doors.’ We are looking to create both a secondary and a primary version of the video which promotes books with diverse representation. This may be through book reviews, a short piece on what ‘mirror’ or ‘window’ books are, the performance of a poem, submitting artwork inspired by a book or something different that fits our theme of ‘representations.’ To express an interest in being involved or find out more, please email jenny@liverpoollearningpartnership.com

English Language for Families Programme

Liverpool Learning Partnership has commissioned EMTAS to deliver an English Language for Families Programme across 10 LLP primary schools this academic year.

This is a fully funded 6 week programme for EAL parents to improve their English, establish friendships and learn a little more about the UK education system. Each class is 90 minutes in duration and will be delivered by an experienced EMTAS practitioner to groups of up to 12 parents.

As part of the wider project, there will also be opportunities for the schools to access wellbeing bags for the participating parents and face to face author events for their settings.

We will be offering the programme on a first come first served basis. To find out more about this project and to register interest please contact: Jenny@LiverpoolLearningPartnership.com

Rhyme and Reason: Poetry and Wellbeing Project

Please find a message from our friends at Curious Minds about their Rhyme and Reason project:

Your young people will experience a series of innovative workshops and activities that harness the power of poetry to promote positive mental health; through reading, writing and spoken word. Drawing on the work of inspirational poets, they’ll explore existing pieces which resonate with and give expression to their feelings, hopes, and dreams. They’ll also draw on their own experiences and unique points of view to articulate their thoughts and emotions and unleash their creative and human potential.

A teacher from each of the 5 schools will receive a funded package of specialist training and support from Curious Minds and expert partners. They will work with an early career poet to plan and deliver impactful and fun poetry-led activity for whole class of Key Stage 3 (KS3) and a whole class of Key Stage 4 (KS4) pupils each week over Spring Term 2025.
