As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, LLP has worked with local schools and organisations to organise a range of videos and clips that schools can access to use in tutor time or assemblies. We recommend that you watch the videos before use to make sure it fits the needs of your cohorts.
This Is My Place Assembly Video
This short (4:25) video features art work from Liverpool College on the theme of belonging, students voice from New Heights and a reflection on when we feel we don’t belong. This video can be used as part of your assemblies or tutor time activity. You may choose to use this alongside the secondary assembly powerpoint from Place2Be: School Resources (scroll down for secondary).
You can find the school clips separately below if you’d prefer to mix and match.
Art and Belonging
Students from Liverpool College have created artwork to express what belonging means to them. This video invites young people to think about what is familiar in these expressions of belonging and what for them is different. Some of these artworks were inspired by this Place2Be art activity: This Is My Place Art Activity.
If your pupils are inspired to create their own artworks and you’d like us to feature them in a video, please email them to admin@liverpoollearningpartnership.com

What has helped you to feel like you belong?
Students from New Heights School talk about what has helped them to feel like they belong in their school setting. This could be used as inspiration for thinking about what can help us to feel like we belong in a place.

Performing Arts and Belonging
Engagement in arts activity has been found to be beneficial to our sense of wellbeing. We asked pupils at Liverpool College to tell us how taking part in performing arts has impacted on their sense of belonging.
A Sneak Peek from the Now Festival
Our friends at Merseyside Youth Association are running their brilliant Now Festival during Children’s Mental Health Week. NOW Fest is an opportunity for young people to use creative arts to express their feelings about mental health related issues. This year’s NOW Festival focuses on the theme of environment. MYA have provided us with a sneak peek of a video from Sandfield Park about accessibility, inclusion and how this impacts on belonging. This could be used as stimulus for a discussion about how the built environment and accessibility can impact on our sense of belonging and place.
