SUMMARY:LCFR: Erika Meza- KS1
DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Learning Partnership invites KS1/Y3 classes to join us for a Liverpool Children’s Festival of Reading online session with Erika Meza. This session is funded as part of the Our Liverpool programme and focuses on Erika’s book To The Other Side\, exploring themes of sanctuary and refuge. The session will include a reading from Erika and a draw-along activity. \nAbout Erika: Erika was born in Mexico and developed a taste for eclairs in Paris before moving to the UK to teach drawing. She won a scholarship to study in L’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs\, where she learned to combine bold colour and mark-making with poetry. Based now in London\, she is the author of To The Other Side and the illustrator for My Two Border Towns and Iggy Breathes Fire. She’s based in Brixton\, where she lives with her partner and her little one. \nAbout To The Other Side: A young boy and his older sister have left home to play a game. To win\, she tells him\, they must travel across endless lands together and make it to the finish line. \nChildren they meet along the way imagine what might be waiting for them across the border: A spotted dog? Ice cream! Or maybe a new school. But the journey is difficult\, and the monsters are more real than they imagined. \nAbout accessing the session: This session will be live-streamed through the Liverpool Learning Partnership website. You will be sent the link ahead of the event \nBooking the session: You only need to choose one ticket per booking. Nearer to the time\, we will send a link that you can then share with colleagues in your school in other classes so they can connect to the session.
