SUMMARY:Art of the Cube: KS2/3
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Fai McCabe as she talks to KS2/3 pupils about her work and leads us in an activity based on pixel art\, showing the mathematical elements of her work. \nFai is a multidisciplinary artist and curator based in Liverpool\, UK whose work centres on the Rubik’s Cube. Through the manual manipulation of hundreds of Rubik’s cubes\, Fai creates intricate\, vibrant designs. Her first Rubik’s Cube piece was made with 300 full size cubes and was of John Lennon. Fai has since created images of iconic people\, buildings and art including Taylor Swift\, Jurgen Klopp\, the Liver Buildings and the Mona Lisa. \nIn this session\, Fai will share examples of her work\, talk about how she uses maths and lead us in an interactive creative activity where pupils are encouraged to create their own artwork. \nFollowing the session pupils will be asked to complete their artwork and schools can submit their designs to a competition where one lucky winner will have the opportunity to have Fai recreate their design in actual Rubik’s Cubes. \nThank you to Merseyrail for their support which has made this session possible! \nThis session is available for LLP members. SUMMARY:KS2 Maths Party Livestream with Ali Harwood
DESCRIPTION:About this session \nCome and join us as we meet with poet and artist\, Ali Harwood\, and find out about how maths is an integral part of his creative work. Ali is the author and illustrator of Liverpool Liver Birds and he’ll be explaining the maths underlying this beautiful book. We’ll also find out how he uses coordinates to create large scale murals and how he includes references to numbers within his art and poetry. Ali will lead us in creating some maths-inspired artworks and will give us simple ideas for writing poems inspired by numbers. \nThis online interactive session will be suitable for pupils in KS2 and will take place on Maths Party Day\, 27th September at 9.30am. \nThis session is available thanks to support from our friends at Merseyrail. \nAbout Ali Harwood \nAli Harwood is an artist\, poet\, writer and teacher. Ali hosts the Liver Bards poetry event and Shakespeare North’s ‘Itch’ spoken word evening as well as being part of the Wirral Poetry Festival organizing team. Ali is an experienced teacher and tutor\, working with many pupils within schools and at home. He has worked on a wide range of poetry and art commissions for organisations including The National Literacy Trust\, Barnardo’s\, The Reading Agency\, Cheltenham Poetry Festival and Virtual School Liverpool. Ali was the 2023 Artist/Creative of the Year for the Liverpool City Region and has worked as Artist in Residence at Kingsley & Co Children’s Bookshop in Bootle. \nPlease Note \nThis session is available to LLP member schools as part of their membership subscription. DESCRIPTION:Liverpool Learning Partnership invites LLP member settings to join in their train-themed nursery rhyme sing-a-long. \nAs part of our Liverpool Maths Party Day celebrations we’ll be singing songs and rhymes about trains as well as counting train carriages and tickets! \nThis will be a short livestreamed session (just under 10 minutes long) for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Feel free to join us for all of the session or part of the session depending on the needs of your cohort.
