There has been recognition, that the required improvements in overall attendance rates can only be achieved through a partnership approach. This will involve schools, young people, their families and all agencies working with children and families across the city.
Central to the work is the understanding that promoting positive school attendance is a responsibility that belongs to everyone if we are achieve the city’s aspiration of a minimum of 97% attendance rate.
The strategy is intended to provide the framework to support continuous improvement in overall attendance rates and a significant reduction in persistent absenteeism. It is also linked to an attendance action plan which has identified key priorities for the city and will be delivered over the next two years.
All partner agencies across the city will be asked to sign up to an Attendance Charter in recognition of their commitment to supporting this agenda.
The strategy will build on the existing good practice within the city to ensure young people and their families are aware that every day attending a Liverpool school matters.
Schools will be kept updated on the progress of the work through their Head Teacher Associations.
