We’re so excited to announce that Sarah McIntyre will be joining in with the fun on Liverpool Readathon Week (9-13 October). Sarah will be coming up to Liverpool on Wednesday 11th October to talk to pupils about her work, to show them some of her artwork and to celebrate the important work Read For Good does for children in hospitals.
Sarah said, “I get asked to support a lot of charities, but the one I’ve chosen to champion is Read For Good, because what they do is so important: bringing books to children in hospital. The Readathon is a great way to encourage empathy in children who support Read For Good, helping them imagine what it would be like to be in hospital, possibly for very long stays; how stories might inspire a child who’s poorly to imagine bigger and better things outside the walls of the ward.”
All schools that sign up for the Liverpool Readathon will be entered into a prize draw with a chance to win a school visit from Sarah on the afternoon of 11th October. Other schools also have a chance to see Sarah talk and draw by attending our sessions for KS1 (10am) and KS2 (11.30am) at Discover, Central Library on the morning of 11th October. These sessions are now fully booked.
In order to celebrate her involvement in the event, Liverpool Learning Partnership are releasing some plans that will help teachers fully engage pupils in Sarah’s wonderful illustrations and writing. Keep checking back for more resources!
