Liverpool Learning Partnership has been working with the Mandela 8 group and Granby Toxteth Development Trust to help to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Nelson Mandela. Each primary school in Liverpool will be given a copy of the illustrated children’s version of Long Walk To Freedom whilst the secondary schools will be given a copy of Mandela: The Graphic Novel. The books have been funded by groups in the city who want to promote the Mandela 67 initiative and make sure our children are aware not only of Mandela’s life, but also feel they can contribute something worthwhile in their communities which will really make a difference.
We have prepared a PowerPoint for you to use in an assembly on or as close to the 18th July as you can, as this was Nelson Mandela’s birthday.
Please click on the following links for the primary school and secondary school assembly resources. Other resources such as worksheets, colouring pages and information sheets can be found on the Mandela Day website.
